ST GEORGE'S HALL

LIVERPOOL

St George's Hall is a Grade 1 listed building, located in the heart of Liverpool.  The project took 13 years to complete, finally opening in 1854. Inspired by Ancient Greece and Rome in its Neo Classical design.  Queen Victoria, first saw it in 1851 and said it was worthy of Ancient Athens. Charles Dickens gave a public reading in the concert hall and pronounced it the most perfect hall in the world.

It houses a Willis organ, the largest of its kind in the world. Its main hall is laid with 30,000.00 Minton

We were tasked into replacing all of the external halogen and discharge lighting with LED lighting. Tryka RGBW LED fixtures were used throughout.  This was a monumental task in which we had to ensure we conformed to all of the regulations that this Grade 1 listed building required.   Existing fixture holes had to be used, as no additional drilling of the exterior façade was allowed whatsoever, and just planning out the DMX run between fixtures to conform to these requirements was a challenge.   A Showcad controller was used, controlling all the operations.  With several programmes pre selected to allow the site operators to chose colours, including flags of the world on demand.

This was the second of three prominent Liverpool buildings installed by us.  The first being Liverpool Town hall and the World Museum, all using the same product.

Significant cost savings were made not just in the energy reduction, but also maintenance, benefitted by using fixtures with 50,000.00 hour life expectancy.
